I really liked this movie. It is a perfect action flick. It has believable characters and nice special effects. It has some elements of the type of special effects we saw in The Matrix, but it flows nice and fits in this movie. The story line is also good. It is easy to follow. It is set in New York City. The directing and sequencing is typically quick - fast motions with a loud soundtrack. It has a nice twist of loving the bad-guy assassin and really rooting for him to be "badder". Angelina Joline, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy really fit well into the roles they play. Good movie!
I am not really an action-movie guy. This movie is great if you just want to be wowed by special effects or like to see people get all blowed-up. I personally thought the story was mostly lame. The actors earned their money - the acting was strong. Our kids loved it because of all the gunplay and loud noises. Angelina Jolie is a lovely woman, even covered head to toe in tattoos - I ain't gonna lie. But if I wanted to be moved intellectually or emotionally by a story, I think I would have to look elsewhere.
Funny side story, while watching this movie with our seven year old, when Morgan Freeman came on the screen, he said, "Look Daddy, it's the guy from Batman." Not Glory. Not Se7en. Not Shawshank. Batman. Nice.
Violence: Um, yeah, that's basically all it is.
Sex: It's sexy, but not over the top. I think you see Angelina's bare butt once. Well, one assumes it's hers.
Language: Mr. Rogers Gym Teacher Vietnam War Platoon Leader
MPAA Rating: R for strong bloody violence throughout, pervasive language and some sexuality.
Sociability: Just depends on the crowd and the mood you are in.
