The funny thing about the picture here of the surfer dude, is that bike riding couple that rode into the way the first time.
Seriously, no one in SoCal has a day job. They are all riding bikes and surfing.

So-Car in So-Cal (part II)
Some shots from Carlsbad, CA.
Our first view of the Pacific. Mom's favorite thing to do is to stare at the sea. Evidently, Dad's favorite thing is to hang back and fiddle with his iPhone, so he can come up and surprise us with some surfing music. I'm not sure "Wouldn't It Be Nice" counts.
So-Car in So-Cal
This weekend, I am travelling to Oceanside, CA, for my friend Paul Vanderwey's wedding. This is a picture of the in-flight entertainment system on the long flight from Atlanta to San Diego. This system was a great way to pass the time, as long as you weren't in seats 35 D E or F, where they weren't working.
I was in 35D.

Please pray for Hayden today
Our 8 year old son, Hayden, is flying to Indiana today - by himself. If you pray, please say a little prayer for him. He's excited, but then he's never changed planes in ATL. Actually, he's never even been on an airplane before in his life, and he gets to do it all by himself, and did I mention a layover in ATL? Yeah, anyway, please pray, and if you don't pray, send a good vibe. He'll be fine, I am sure, but even I (seasoned traveler lol) get a little ruffled going through Atlanta.
Lord, please be with Hayden today in a way that he can feel, and please protect him in a way that I can't.

Road trip complete
Well...Steph and I just got back from our first (annual??) Child Shuffling World Tour.
We left Thursday morning to take Wes, Lauren, Hayden, and Jack to Indiana to spend the summer with their mom. From there, we drove (through Detroit) to Toronto, CA, where Steph's mom and dad live. We left Sam there on Tuesday morning, and drove 15 hours home to SC. We got in last night 'round midnight (many of you now have a new ear worm - you're welcome).
We have about a week alone until Steph's mom Mary and Sam fly here. Major cities along the way: Charlotte, Charleston WV, Dayton, Indianapolis, Detroit, Toronto, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and back to Charlotte.
1,865 Miles.
21 Hours, 26 minutes driving time.
Around 5 tanks of gas.
Time for a nap.
